Join the Royal Observatory Edinburgh team for an evening to celebrate National Astronomy Week at the Almondell Country Park Visitor Centre.
7pm-9pm (activities designed for age 14 years and upwards)
As Jupiter takes pride of place in the night sky, come along to find out more about other solar system objects, like comets and asteroids, and what they can tell us about how our solar system formed. Hear from researchers about exoplanets – planets orbiting stars other than our Sun – and the telescopes being developed to study these potentially alien worlds. Discover hints and tips for finding your way around the night sky, and discover the new BSL which has been developed for astronomy. We’ll be in the garden with telescopes to give you a view of Jupiter and its Galilean Moons (weather permitting). The activities will be BSL interpreted.
