Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society are holding a National Astronomy Week Open Evening on Saturday 8th March at Sherwood Observatory, Coxmoor Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts, NG17 5LF.
Cost
Adults (16 and over) £5.00; Children (under 16) £1.00.
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Many activities available, such as:
- Short presentation about Jupiter beginning at 7.00pm in our lecture room and repeated throughout the evening.
- View Jupiter, the Moon, and other treasures of the night sky through the Society’s large telescope in our dome and a range of smaller telescopes (weather permitting).
- Displays on the solar system and beyond.
- Demonstration of meteor detection by radio astronomy.
- Opportunities to ask questions about astronomy.
Please wear warm clothing.
Refreshments available.
Smoking is not permitted on site during the event.
